It's been a rather whirlwind week as D came back home! He arrived a day early while I was eating with my good guy friend, B at Uchi's. I was a bit torn between catching up with B and wanting to rush over to see D asap as he's been gone twice as long as was originally expected; however, I finished out the delicious dinner with B and watched an episode of HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother) at his apartment before meeting up with my boyfriend. </div>

If you haven't eaten at Uchi's, I highly recommend it! I will definitely have a post shortly about the yummy foods we tried out! Not only was it a great eating experience, it was an equally exceptional dining experience (i.e. service was top rate!).</div>

The problem of living closer to my residency program is that I don't get to live in town anymore and I have to think about when I need to drive in to see my friends... as most of them live in the city proper. I decided to head basically straight from work to B's office (even though I knew I'd need to wait for him to finish up working before we could go out for dinner). I made a quick pitstop at my apartment to change into a funner outfit, because honestly my work clothes border on boring (which is why they are rarely ever featured on this blog! :D!).</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">

I had fun wearing my first pair of jeggings (late, I know!) from Abercrombie & Fitch. I bought them because they're gray and I have a weakness for gray jeans, and because they are so, so, so comfy! They literally feel like second skin and they definitely fit like second skin! I got them for about half off at $32, which was a decent price for what I feel is a fairly quality pair of jeggings. </div>
<div style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Because I've been craving stripes since I saw <a href="http://www.lesantimodernes.com/2012/04/foundations-breton-stripe-shirt.html" style="color: #2288bb; text-decoration: none;">les anti-modernes' post on breton stripes</a>, I was wondering what to pair my jeggings with when I ran across my H&M blue/white striped tank and decided it'd be perfect. All I needed was a cardigan... and I remembered I bought a drape-y dull blue cardigan from Forever 21 that would be match-y, but not too match-y. The only issue is the cardigan tends to go everywhere and doesn't drape all that pretty unless of course I belt it! I got this belt at J.Crew for a bargain at $9. Sometimes, if you're patient enough, you can find some great deals there!</div>

I'm not really sure if my Proenza Schouler pochette worked too well in the color scheme, but it definitely provided a different pop of color into the outfit schematics. I've been wanting to use the clutch a bit more than opportunity has provided and what better time than going out for dinner? My last addition were my Ann Taylor Perfect Patent Kitten Heels. I love these shoes as the height is perfect, although the patent isn't quite as forgiving as the Perfect Leather Heels. Oh well, these are about as comfortable as heels get for me and I definitely recommend them!</div>

I don't exactly spoil her rotten though my mom likes to protests otherwise. Most people who don't like cats; however, don't mind Kchan. A few that don't have any real fondness for felines really really like Kchan. I guess it's because even though she's a cat, she acts quite like a dog in some respects?<br />
<br />
Early on, I reinforced good behavior in her. I don't let her scratch people or furniture (she has her specific carpets and scratching toys); I don't let her bite; I don't let her whine and get what she wants, unless she's politely reminding me to feed her before I leave for work!<br />
<br />
What I noticed (which may or may not be true of all pets) is that Kchan resembles me in a lot of ways. She's mellow, likes to get her way but isn't too petulant when she doesn't, and she's definitely nice to you when she wants something... LOL. And she has a bit of a bag fetish...<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Probably one of the cutest things she does, aside from getting herself into ridiculous scrapes... is talkback to me when I talk to her. It sounds pretty ridiculous on my end since I'm meowing at my cat, but she does respond and it's adorable. Her only other real trick is when I hold out of my hand within the range of her being able to stand up on her hind legs to bump her head against it. It's what I make her do before I feed her or play with her. Sometimes, I ask her for the hell of it and when she's obliging she'll do it. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I try not to leave any bags lying around anymore because she really likes to get into them. I worry that she'll choke herself accidentally, but I couldn't resist taking these pictures when she wiggled her way into them and I will let her play with them when I'm around to watch her. Kchan is basically my baby and I love her. </div>

It's been a rather tough week or so as D has been off traveling the world again on business and he's had to stay longer than expected. The entire time we've been together, it's been one thing after another. I suppose all that we've been through has brought us closer, but I wish things could be easier and we could have some normalcy (he agrees frankly).<br />
<br />
As with all couples, we have our issues but as I've grown older (and matured), I've learned to communicate how I feel. I try not to tell my boyfriend what to do, what to think, what to feel... he should want to do what he does for me because he wants to. That said, despite the difficulties, I'm glad he asked me for my number!<br />

<br />
I realized after I stepped out of my apartment this morning, I was wearing a very washed out looking outfit, what with the light cream and pale pink palette. My only real source of color were my shoes and my PS1. But I think it works well enough as weather transitions from Spring to Summer. It was a comfortable outfit to wear with the temperatures in the mid-80s.<br />
<br />
What I love best about the outfit is the crochet cardigan. I love that it has this drapey, boxy look to it and it's comfortable to wear. It definitely can make you look dowdy depending on what you wear with it, but I think what I have paired with it works well enough despite the very washed out color scheme. And did I ever tell you something that makes me go <3 with cardigans are when they have pockets? (Same with dresses!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RQYyaePpKs4/T5xyzaFsXbI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/qiB6BEHXo8U/s1600/4_28_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RQYyaePpKs4/T5xyzaFsXbI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/qiB6BEHXo8U/s320/4_28_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Admittedly, the pockets aren't that useful, but I just like sticking my hands in them when I don't know what to do with myself! I realize I've gotten so used to wearing my Toms around, which are super comfy, that even wearing fairly comfortable flat sandals weren't enough support for my feet... I do adore the braided details of these sandals though I got for a really good deal at Free People!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aHn2sVY8vec/T5xy9CkOnBI/AAAAAAAAARI/2ShnpbFmxgw/s1600/4_28_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aHn2sVY8vec/T5xy9CkOnBI/AAAAAAAAARI/2ShnpbFmxgw/s320/4_28_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

The last really cute detail of my OOTD are the little bows on the linen shorts. I have to say, as I've gotten older, I really like wearing shorts that aren't <i>short</i> shorts. I guess I think it's more flattering to cover up more than to show off more, if you know what I mean?<br />

I think about what I did wrong at work, what I can do better, about how I find myself frustrated at my patients and how they don't understand that I am not a robot --- I have feelings too like them because I'm human too.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Over the past month, I've been yelled at by a mother because I was "yelling" at her kid. I don't even remember being annoyed or frustrated at the kid, but I had to re-evaluate the well child visit and think about if what she said was accurate or not? Even thinking back hard, I don't feel like what the mother said had anything to do with me. Maybe she was having a bad day... but I don't know what she was expecting out of me, to be a perfect? I'm not perfect because I'm human too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't operate well on 0-3 hours of sleep. I don't know how my brain even thinks on that little sleep, yet somehow I manage to do just that when I was on inpatient psychiatry and getting paged throughout the night for admissions and to care for patients. I'm not complaining about the work; in fact, my stint in primary care has only convinced I chose the right residency in deciding on psychiatry. I am more and more reassured each day as I look forward to resuming my psychiatry training once I'm done with my required primary care months. I just want you (our patients) to know that we try our best to help and to heal you, but don't forget we have feelings too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We don't like to be yelled at; we don't like to be bullied or pressured to do things we don't think are necessary; we don't want to stop caring because no one appreciates us.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think some of the kindest words patients ever say to me is: "How are you?" and "Thanks."</div>

My OOTDs were all various creations that you've already seen so this time I'll concentrate on FOOD (which I've sadly neglected!).<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'll start with Rattan, an Asian fusion restaurant and wine bar, where I feasted on a Kobe Beef Hot Dog! It was as good as A said it was going to be and definitely something I wouldn't mind having again. The meat was tasty without being too salty and was topped with a nice punch of onions and tomatoes on pretzel bread! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iL00eE-cHeY/T5SorL4pWGI/AAAAAAAAAQM/HSFSmiCqs5c/s1600/photo-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iL00eE-cHeY/T5SorL4pWGI/AAAAAAAAAQM/HSFSmiCqs5c/s320/photo-1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I hadn't seen A for a while because he's been offshore a bunch for work, but he's gotten a lull period (much to his relief and disgruntlement as he's paid a lot better when he goes offshore; however, he doesn't want to be off as much as he has been... he likes a balance like any sane person would). We caught up, he dished about the drama in his life, and he took me out on his Alfa which was a blast because of the perfect weather! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I called it an early night though and headed home because I was up at 5 am with D before his 11 am flight. He definitely keeps very odd hours because of his work and I'll be relieved when he returns from his business trip as his hours are suppose to improve significantly. If they don't, I will take it in stride as I've been for the last two months.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The highlight of the weekend though was Sunday with S. We headed off to brunch mid-morning at Tiny Boxwood's, which is a cute brunch place with interesting assortment of breakfast-y pizzas! S and I decided on the Potato and Egg Pizza with Pesto... and of course, it was super yummy! S was pleasantly surprised since she didn't think she would like it that much when she saw other fellow brunchers eating them as we waited in the fairly long line to get into the restaurant. The pizza was thin, interesting, and definitely delicious. I've had it before and was pretty confident she would like it as well (thank goodness, she did!).</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P5ig7Vj5e1o/T5Soxho2MYI/AAAAAAAAAQU/RzOTCe65DqQ/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P5ig7Vj5e1o/T5Soxho2MYI/AAAAAAAAAQU/RzOTCe65DqQ/s320/photo.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We also shared a cinnamon roll, which was decent, but nothing overwhelming or unique. I've been to Tiny Boxwood's a few times and have always had a good experience there despite the lines and limited seating. It's something I would recommend as it's got a picturesque setting and good eating! And what more could you want than that?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uu9s9ah4ZAU/T5SsL8F5ogI/AAAAAAAAAQc/W9p7nBWp_WI/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uu9s9ah4ZAU/T5SsL8F5ogI/AAAAAAAAAQc/W9p7nBWp_WI/s320/photo.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
S and I then hit the Galleria, which is a pretty massive mall, and shopped to our heart's content. I was on a no-buy budget, which I broke to pick up some dark gray Abercrombie & Fitch Perfect Fit Jeggings (<a href="http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10901&storeId=10051&langId=-1&categoryId=60948&parentCategoryId=12261&topCategoryId=12203&size=&productId=920935">here, but in khaki</a>). They were super soft, well-fitting, and the inseam wasn't too long for a short 5'2" girl like me. I basically bought them though because they were ridiculously comfortable to wear because I wasn't suppose to be buying anything! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lIQo_rXjTUU/T5Sn7I3uV-I/AAAAAAAAAQE/HTIuAnrbK_A/s1600/4_22_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lIQo_rXjTUU/T5Sn7I3uV-I/AAAAAAAAAQE/HTIuAnrbK_A/s320/4_22_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My last purchase of the day wasn't for me, which made it OK. I stopped by Papyrus with S and got cards for my cousin (getting married), my mom (celebrating her birthday), my friend (soon to be graduating), and a random birthday card that I know I'll give to someone someday! S also did her card shopping and we definitely pick up some great cards for everybody. I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday than with someone you have a great time with!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<3 S!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend!</div>

As you know, I'm dating D... and I guess with all that has happened in the several weeks we've been an item, I finally felt like his girlfriend when he brought me home a little something from LA. I had mentioned a time or two that what I miss most about NYC was being able to get macarons because they simply aren't available around where I live (at least the quality I'm used to). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The macarons he brought back were really yummy. D surprised me by handing me a cute chartreuse gift box when I picked him up at the airport. He was slightly bashful about it? Prefacing that he had gotten me these because they were supposedly the best in LA, but he didn't know how they'd compare to the ones I'd had in NYC. Admittedly, I was a bit crabby because I'd had a trying weekend (and had just spent a small fortune to fly to my cousin's wedding at the end of June), so he's like "I'm going to open this and give you one and it'll make you feel better."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KG8rrxvf1nE/T44WLArXApI/AAAAAAAAAP8/ljqr475DnHs/s1600/4_17_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KG8rrxvf1nE/T44WLArXApI/AAAAAAAAAP8/ljqr475DnHs/s320/4_17_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He basically stuffed my mouth with a colombian coffee macaroon, which was just the sweetness I needed to get out of my funk (after he let me vent in the car too!). I'm so glad he's back for a few days, even though I know he has to head back out of town for another business trip and he's too busy while he's in town to see me much.</div>
<br />
I have to say the 'lette macarons are pretty amazing. My favorite macarons that I've had come from La Maison du Chocolat, but they are a different kind of macaron as they are filled with chocolate ganache and as that shop specializes in chocolate <i>of course </i>their chocolate macarons are top notch. 'lette macarons are equally good in their own way.<br />
<br />
My assortment of macarons had 2 caribbean chocolate, 2 sicilian pistachio (he asked for extras because I'd told him that was my fave!), salted caramel, rose, violet cassis, raspberry, sweet wedding almond, earl grey tea, and coconut. I have to say the rose and violet cassis were interesting and good, but probably not something I would have gotten on my own. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to raspberry so I gave that to S, who said it was delicious (sigh!). The sweet wedding almond was good, but my favorites in the box were the salted caramel, the earl grey tea, the coconut, caribbean chocolate, and the sicilian pistachio!<br />
<br />
My first surprise from him and it put a giant smile on my face because it was thoughtful and sweet (literally!) and super yummy!<br />

I kicked start it by doing a 5k charity walk Saturday morning for NAMI (National Association for Mental Illness) where I raised $155. Then because it was hot and because I stupidly didn't drink enough water, I was dehydrated with a headache and pretty nauseated for several hours afterwards. I rested while waiting for S to finish up with all her volunteering commitments (I need to be more like her!) and originally she was going to meet up down where I live, but she finished so late and had had such a long day I drove to the Island to meet up with her instead. We ate dinner together and then went back to her condo for some girl talk!<br />
<br />
That was the end of Saturday and I woke up extremely early on Sunday because I guess I'm just used to it. I had agreed to have beef noodle soup with W, a guy I had dated a while back but am still friends with. He recently moved into town and I had yet to hangout with him. We had a good time, caught up, and I got to see his new digs. His place is really nice and he seems quite settled in! Below is what I wore for lunch today and the top I wore the previous night with S. Still need to see A, a fellow co-res, for our "burger" time and then picking D up at the airport. What a busy, fun weekend!<br />

I recently picked up the ribbon tank from J.Crew for $10 from $34.50, which isn't a bad deal. I got it in XS and I typically wear a 0/XS and it fits me TTS. The only problems with the tank is that it's on the long size if you're petite and that the ribbon detail in the front is delicate and there's already a slight strain to the front of the white when I tried to remove a minor stain. Now that I know, I'll be more careful, but too late for the little run I caused by trying to remove it. Of course, for $10 with the details shown below, it's a lovely tank for layering and for wearing alone.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My favorite part of this outfit (other than my recurring fave with my PS1) is the cardigan from Splendid. I find it unique, soft, and comfy! I love the way it drapes and how it's so casually chic. The large gray rugby stripes with the kimono design make it so FUN! It's one of my favorite cardigans and I love to wear it when I can. It's basically the perfect weather now since outside I don't need it with how hot, humid it is down here, but as soon as I go inside it's chilly because of the A/C. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last part of the outfit that hasn't been featured before is the yellow flipflop/sandals from Lucky Brand. These are pretty comfy despite all the straps and the mustard yellow is a nice pop of color. My toenails unfortunately don't go with the outfit, but I'm really loving Turquoise and Caicos by Essie!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I find it tough to venture outside the "girls I lunch with" as M calls it (she's my bestest) since I've been with them for the past 9 years and they are my core hangout group, but I've recently moved and while I'm not far away... it's far enough to make it difficult to spend as much time with them as I used to in the past. But I started a new rotation at the beginning of the month and made a new girlfriend. She's pretty amazing and I just want to say I'm glad I met her.<br />
<br />
Below is my "work" OOTD and I have to say that S, my new girlfriend, dresses super cute as well for work! I know I don't post much work-related outfits, but that's because they are kind of uninspired, but S is making me realize there's no reason not to dress cute all the time even when there are work limitations.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
I tend to shop at Banana Republic, Loft, J.Crew, and Gap for my work clothes. As you can see, the outfit above is mainly Gap, with a splash of Joseph and Joie. I have to say, I do like to try and spice up my work outfit with my shoes or my top because slacks and cardigans are pretty much my mainstay. My go-to work bag at the moment is my J.Crew takeaway tote which I got off Ebay for $38 and I've been pretty satisfied with it. There aren't many compartments which is annoying; however, it's big enough and light enough and cheap enough that I don't feel bad about letting it sit on a hospital or clinic floor like I do when I lug my Longchamp to work. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1pF9u8TeDC0/T4X9PM_mBcI/AAAAAAAAAPU/ZSMQ5KCVVDs/s1600/4_11_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1pF9u8TeDC0/T4X9PM_mBcI/AAAAAAAAAPU/ZSMQ5KCVVDs/s320/4_11_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I openly admit I like solid colors and simplicity, but that doesn't mean I don't like details. What makes this top more than a casual tank is the gauze detail that is overlaid so nicely on the front. The top itself is a pretty pale pink, which is flattering against a host of neutral colored slacks. Today I chose navy and my Joseph slack fit really well on me.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last, but not least is my Joie flats. I love these for their details and I got them for a terrific price from Shopbop last year. $67!!! They are very comfy as the leather is soft and forgiving. Aren't they lovely? </div>

I wore this outfit a week or so ago, but never got the opportunity to blog about it because work and life just got in the way. I really liked how colorful this outfit was for me, with the navy blue shoes, the mint tank, and the taupe-gold lace top. Somehow, it all worked out. Don't you think?<br />

As you can see, if I'm not carrying my Pochette, it's my PS1 medium! I really adore how the warm saddle is so neutral yet such a pop of color at the same time. The final touch to my OOTD were my soft Reva flats in dark brown with the gold logo. </div>

I recently read <a href="http://nymag.com/news/features/asian-americans-2011-5/">Paper Tigers</a> by Wesley Yang and it got me thinking about myself, my peers, and our parent's generation. According to my mother, I have not been the ideal Asian daughter because it is not filial to talk back and to do what you truly want to do in life. I have tried my hardest to do what would please her the most, to the point of sacrificing what I wanted to be in life, but there is a point you reach where you cannot be yourself and be who your mother wants you to be. The two cannot be reconciled and I have learned there is this important division between my generation (first born ABCs) and my mother's (recent immigrants).<br />
<br />
To my mother, when my family and her friends say that I am "too American," it is something to be ashamed of; but I cannot change the influences in my life, of being in America and of being Asian. I am, and so are those like me, stuck in this no man's land of being Asian the way your parents are and being American like everyone around you.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
As you know, I'm a first year resident and most of you would assume that being a doctor I have fulfilled my mother's grand ambitions. Because what more does an Asian mom want from her child than professional success, the highest level of education, and a position of prestige? Except I am doing my residency in Psychiatry and my mother could not be more displeased in me being becoming a shrink, i.e. not a real doctor.<br />
<br />
I struggled for the longest time, during high school when everyone I knew was telling me to keep my rank, to go to the best university, to go down the pathway of pre-med and achieve the goal of being a doctor. I guess, I have accomplished all that. I am, in a way, a fairly generic overachieving Asian that my Tiger Mom raised. I graduated at the top of my class, went to a top 20 ranked university, and got into medical school without much of a hitch.<br />
<br />
Except, and this is a big except, I am not a science or engineering major. I have a degree in English Literature and if I could be anything, do anything, I would have gone for a Masters in Creative Writing and been a novelist or at the very least, gone on to a masters in Journalism and become a reporter for a magazine or a copy editor at a newspaper. But when I disregarded all that my mother wanted for me and flew off to England for 6 months to study abroad in a liberal arts university, I discovered that while I loved to write, I wanted to do more than just write. Writing a 20 page paper on the idea of taste mirroring estates and gardens in Jane Austen's complete body of works, I realized I needed some touch of practicality and I've always enjoyed as banal as it sounds, to help and affect other people's lives.<br />
<br />
I only realized after I got into medical school, following along on the pathway that my mom and my family had firmly dictated and encouraged since nearly infancy, that medicine might not have been the ideal choice to reach my idea of a meaningful life. I hated my life for three long years, going through multiple bouts of mild depression, before I found something within medicine I truly enjoy doing. I'm not sure why or how I came to the epiphany that Psychiatry - the medicine of crazy people - was such a perfect fit for me.<br />
<br />
In my writing, I am most intimately curious to know and to understand my characters to the fullest extent. Psychiatry puts that into practice and despite my mother's great reservations and multiple attempts to get me to change my mind, to go the route of Internal Medicine or Pediatrics or Family Medicine, I finally said NO to what she wanted for me and said YES to what I wanted for myself. If you ask me now, more than halfway through my PGY-1 I can honestly say, I have not made a mistake.<br />
<br />
If my Tiger Mom had not pushed me into medicine, I would not doing what I'm doing now. I might have been a writer, a reporter, a copy editor, any of those things, but I'm not. I'm a Doctor and I am learning to be a Psychiatrist. And the best part is, I have not compromised who I am. It's hard in residency to write. Writing requires a vast amount of thinking and my brain is often exhausted after dealing with frustrating and annoying situations that plague a resident's life (Please Remember Doctors Are Humans Too!, but that's another story).<br />
<br />
I am writing now, as I write this blog, as an expression of myself, of my likes and my style, and in the middle of the night I'm still creating fiction when my muse decides to tickle my mind.<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading and Happy Easter!<br />

I thought I'd relate a little more background into our relationship since my OOTD was for him. We met at a meetup (where people with similar interests will get together) and I had no intention of dating anyone at the time, especially after a fairly brutal breakup I had recently. But D asked for my number and I gave it to him; then he asked me to hangout and I was all for it.<br />
<br />
I don't think either of us expected anything really to materialize, as our first 1-on-1 was not a date, but we had amazing chemistry and... we found each other mutually interesting. Fast forward several weeks, we've become rather close, and every step and progression has been so natural. Despite the difficulties, me being in residency and him having a work schedule more time-consuming than mine -- it's worked out as well as you could expect anything to work out.<br />
<br />
For his last night in town before flying off on another business trip (this is the second time in our time together) where he'll be gone anywhere from 2-3 weeks, I decided to dress up for him in a strapless floral dress and pair it with my new PS1 pochette.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I adore how spring appropriate the floral dress is with its bright and vibrant hues of pink/red/green/yellow. Since it still gets a little chilly at night, even here in the South, I added a light lace panel cardigan. This cardigan was one of my more expensive end-of-season purchases from Urban Outfitters last year in November, but it's quickly become one of my favorite pieces. It's versatile because of the color and it's light enough to wear in the Spring/Fall down here. The best detail is the back...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_tQBxUEPblI/T4A6-EfzdPI/AAAAAAAAAOk/5nP8p9Xc6XU/s1600/47_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_tQBxUEPblI/T4A6-EfzdPI/AAAAAAAAAOk/5nP8p9Xc6XU/s320/47_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Where the lace panel detail is continued! And as you have already had a post dedicated to my Proenza Schouler love, what is more perfect than a peach suede clutch to this outfit? I finally found an occasion to wear it and it certainly won't be the last!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C0BTojPiyp8/T4A7LKY9EyI/AAAAAAAAAO0/B0mcKWB2RsY/s1600/47_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C0BTojPiyp8/T4A7LKY9EyI/AAAAAAAAAO0/B0mcKWB2RsY/s320/47_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The last item needed, of course, are the shoes...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-e5hSfv2ZGDs/T4A7M7V-9AI/AAAAAAAAAO8/yc3lqfxaREM/s1600/47_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-e5hSfv2ZGDs/T4A7M7V-9AI/AAAAAAAAAO8/yc3lqfxaREM/s320/47_4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've heard a lot of great things about Ann Taylor Perfect Pumps and I decided to splurge on a pair with their Spring 30% off week. I find they run slightly large and the size 5 is more than generous on my feet. I usually am a size 5 in heels, but they can be a little tight as my feet aren't narrow. I find the toe box to fit very well around my toes and I don't feel scrunched at all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are quite comfortable for 3 1/4" heels. I'm more of a flats kind of girl, so when I say comfortable that means comfortable despite the height. They are soft, lined with leather, and well made. I decided to go with the leather one since those tend to be forgiving than patent, but I might give the black patent a try since these work so nicely.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have a great Easter weekend!</div>

I have never really splurged on a bag as much as I have these past 2 months with a PS1 medium in Saddle and a Pochette in Peach suede. You guys are all familiar with my PS1 as it's a frequent guest star in my OOTD, but you've yet to see my Pochette because I've never really owned a clutch before and I'm not sure what/when to wear it!<br />
<br />
But I have to say, I adore it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-npIQiRjjDhk/T3i9otyHMqI/AAAAAAAAANc/Dv3jT-UvEpc/s1600/12_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-npIQiRjjDhk/T3i9otyHMqI/AAAAAAAAANc/Dv3jT-UvEpc/s320/12_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Isn't the peach oh-so-pretty? I've also never really owned a bag/clutch in suede and I have to say I'm a little afraid of getting it dirty, especially since I chose a light color. It seems so spring/summery and since I live in the humid South, it just makes sense to get something that I can wear most of the year!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H5L4d-abPwQ/T3i9u-A85mI/AAAAAAAAANk/Eqiz_h61grY/s1600/12_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H5L4d-abPwQ/T3i9u-A85mI/AAAAAAAAANk/Eqiz_h61grY/s320/12_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
What I love the most about this clutch is that it's big enough, but not too heavy... and it has compartments! The inside is divided into two open areas with one outside zip and one inside zip! It's much of the reason why I like the PS1... because of all the useful compartments, but I didn't realize the clutch version would also have the same great features!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-myAI9Io56jg/T3i9ziz3CnI/AAAAAAAAANs/vz1vHNtB7FE/s1600/12_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-myAI9Io56jg/T3i9ziz3CnI/AAAAAAAAANs/vz1vHNtB7FE/s320/12_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But why I <3 Proenza Schouler so much is because the style fits<i> me</i> and <i>my</i> lifestyle!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do you guys have any designers that fit your life oh-so-well?</div>girlymdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13267652310477416301noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3091495671033258890.post-19585766936917180152012-04-01T16:30:00.002-05:002012-04-01T18:02:17.333-05:00Peach twill & lace tunicToday I went to my grandmother's grave. It's a well-known and well-observed holiday honoring the deceased for my ethnic background (Chinese/Vietnamese). My family and I go every year during this time to bring my grandmother her favorite foods, light incense and pray for her well-being, and burn paper money and gold so that she has everything she needs in her afterlife.<br />
<br />
The day was beautiful -- bright and sunny and a little on the warm side -- so I dressed appropriately with an OOTD that wouldn't cause me to sweat underneath the hot rays.<br />

<br />
I actually recently got some peach colored twill pants, which were the same price as my colored jeans, but a lot softer and definitely more comfortable (basically better quality overall, so I'm pleased with the purchase). I also picked up a lace tunic that might be a tad long and can make me look shapeless; however, I figured a belt would solve the issue rather nicely. With this outfit, since I wore it with a shorter top strap from A|X, I thought it worked quite well without a belt. I topped the look off with a long gold double chain necklace with an antiqued gold look that adds to the outfit without going overboard.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lBmI4YMpdaM/T3i-QqCH9zI/AAAAAAAAAOU/Xeopv7psglY/s1600/12_8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lBmI4YMpdaM/T3i-QqCH9zI/AAAAAAAAAOU/Xeopv7psglY/s320/12_8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I felt the lace tunic was good quality for the price ($10.80) despite the long length and the boxy fit, and the necklace ($5.80) also not bad either. The twill pants were definitely worthwhile for ($15.80). I couldn't find any links of them online, but I found them in stock in stores so definitely check your local Forever 21.</div>

BTW, I know people rave (and sometimes rant) about Toms being comfortable and they most definitely are after a teensy-bitsy break-in period. I pretty much have to break-in all my shoes, but these are consistently my go-to pair of shoes when I know I'll have to be walking for any sort of distance! And despite the fact they aren't chic, trendy, or cute... comfort counts for a lot when you do as much walking as I do on a daily basis!</div>

I'm not into bold, trendy colors because as a physician, I kind of need to look fresh and professional at all times. I've always liked Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer and was intrigued when I saw the colors for her <i>Lingerie Eye and Cheek Palette. </i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bI8bwfUt-VQ/T3NxLa3z0ZI/AAAAAAAAAM8/QUhLn2KKpi4/s1600/11_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bI8bwfUt-VQ/T3NxLa3z0ZI/AAAAAAAAAM8/QUhLn2KKpi4/s320/11_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Laura Mercier :: <i>Lingerie Eye and Cheek Palette (<a href="http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P304503">here</a>)</i></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
As you can see, I've definitely used the palette and I have to say I ABSOLUTELY ADORE it! The colors work well for my skin tone, which is not pale but not tanned either (especially considering I live in the South where it's consistently sunny all the time). I like how it is feminine with the pinks, but neutral at the same time. I've made a brightening eye look, a smokey eye, and just used the darker colors as liners when I'm looking for a very fresh-faced look.<br />
<br />
The palette includes 6 eye shadows x 0.05 oz and 2 cheek colors x 0.11 oz.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DwM-_gocySw/T3NxPqQ9e7I/AAAAAAAAANE/Y1BoYwjTls4/s1600/11_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DwM-_gocySw/T3NxPqQ9e7I/AAAAAAAAANE/Y1BoYwjTls4/s320/11_2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
From top, Buff Pearl, Tawny Apricot, and Rich Cocoa. I have to say that these three together make an excellent dark brown smokey eye. The Tawny Apricot is a wonderful base color and the Buff Pearl is excellent as a highlighter and on the inner corner of the eye, whereas the Rich Cocoa has great color pay off and makes a terrific liner too!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YBuJdT03twg/T3NxUvYx_UI/AAAAAAAAANM/zI28ehYQGxU/s1600/11_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YBuJdT03twg/T3NxUvYx_UI/AAAAAAAAANM/zI28ehYQGxU/s320/11_3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
From top, Rose Desire and Fresh Peach. The skin cheek colors work well alone, both are very natural on your face despite their look in the pan. I actually prefer to wear them together, putting the color on top that I want more of. I would have purchased this palette just for the blushes because they work really well for the spring/summer!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-viehyIgrA9I/T3NxY-ouLVI/AAAAAAAAANU/-mMe_sOeAU8/s1600/11_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-viehyIgrA9I/T3NxY-ouLVI/AAAAAAAAANU/-mMe_sOeAU8/s320/11_4.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
From top, Pale Pink, African Violet, and Black Plum. The best eye shadow in this palette is African Violet, which is the most unique color as well. It's got a subtly, sparkly sheen that is really pretty. The color pay off could be better, but since it's not that intense it works really well as a way to touch up an eye look without going over board with glittery fall out. It's become my favorite eye shadow! Pale Pink makes a pretty decent base when you don't want the sheen of Tawny Apricot and Black Plum makes a less intense grayish liner. Black Plum doesn't have the best color pay off, but if you can layer the color 'til you get what you need out of it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Really, the best part of this palette is that EVERY color is useable, which I can't say for every palette. FYI, Sephora is currently having 15% using the code CHICWEEK! I hope you enjoyed the review and I'll definitely review more makeup/skincare items as I purchase them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Enjoy the rest of the week!</div>

When D came over this weekend, it was as good of a reason for thinking up an outfit to put together with my lace skirt. I decided to go a bit secretarial/librarian with a light blue 3/4 sleeve shirt because we were going to brunch and the skirt is a bit more "going out" than you'd want for an early Sunday. Add a slightly funky belt and we've got my OOTD!<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Top :: <i>Banana Republic</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bottom :: <i>Forever 21</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Belt :: <i>Urban Outfitters</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bag ::<i> Proenza Schouler </i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Shoes :: <i>Tahari</i></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
This outfit really does look flirty, but not too over the top. For a night out, I'd pair it with a tighter fitting top to really accentuate my figure. I decided to be a little girly and paired it with nude pumps. I finished the outfit with my favorite bag of the moment, my Proenza Schouler PS1!<br />
<br />
I can't say how much I love this bag! The compartments, the leather, the classic schoolbag look! <3!<br />
<br />
I hope everyone had a great weekend (and one last closeup of the pumps)...<br />

(H&M is coming soon and is very much needed down here!). I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for, but I stumbled upon two fitted lace skirt in black and taupe. I really wanted the mint skirt, but alas they didn't have my size so I went from the two more neutral colors instead. If the mint had been available, I probably wouldn't have purchased the black. However, the mint and black are both online in all sizes though the taupe is gone...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nazu-eIyT24/T2XuKe-hhUI/AAAAAAAAAL4/kZKmVFI3WH8/s1600/9_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nazu-eIyT24/T2XuKe-hhUI/AAAAAAAAAL4/kZKmVFI3WH8/s320/9_5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Skirt :: <i>Forever 21 (<a href="http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?category=BTMs&ProductID=2074201851&utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=product_feed">here</a>)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i></i></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
After picking up the skirts from Forever 21, I decided to run some errands at Target and ended up picking up some really cute Essie nail polish that reminds me of the classic Tiffany color! The color is called <i>Turquoise and Caicos</i>, and may be more summery than springish, but I love it anyway!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y5V_h3q8LIk/T2ezLu0WIWI/AAAAAAAAAMY/801wtc2jT1U/s1600/9_8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y5V_h3q8LIk/T2ezLu0WIWI/AAAAAAAAAMY/801wtc2jT1U/s320/9_8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'll probably be wearing this color all spring and summer...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YsBnqM-FK-c/T2ezFR1vR_I/AAAAAAAAAMQ/w3MV4em-xnU/s1600/9_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YsBnqM-FK-c/T2ezFR1vR_I/AAAAAAAAAMQ/w3MV4em-xnU/s320/9_7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see from the bottle, it comes off brighter and more saturated on the nail after two generous coats than it looks in the bottle. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I actually like the way it looks on my toe nails more. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Happy Hump Day!</div>

I honestly didn't do all too much, which was kind of a let down. J was taking her Step 3 (something I need to get started on) and H is working this weekend. Sometimes, in a way, when I have nothing to do I'd rather be working... since I'm so used to working, even on weekends.<br />
<br />
I was originally suppose to meet D, the guy I'm seeing for dinner/later in the night, but he ended up having to work then picking up the keys to his new house so that didn't go as expected. Things turned pretty good though, I called B, who is one of my closest guy friends and we hung out at his apartment for a couple hours before heading to Torchy's Tacos for dinner.<br />
<br />
Everyone was dressed in some kind of green, except B, who was a bit grumpy because he was sore after a 30 mile bike ride this morning. I was fairly festive wearing my new mint green jeans and pairing it with some fun accessories, like my favorite watch and bag at the moment and polka dot flats!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="font-style: italic; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Here are some close ups of the accessories: </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HJRVsBPet8s/T2Xt49jEZYI/AAAAAAAAALg/GS43rLEjATY/s1600/9_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HJRVsBPet8s/T2Xt49jEZYI/AAAAAAAAALg/GS43rLEjATY/s320/9_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The watch even had some dark green on the band and some neon orange to spice it up. I really like how you can change up the look of this watch with different bands! And I have to admit I really like David Yurman jewelry, but I only have a few pieces that I can wear everyday and honestly it is getting pretty pricey over the last year or so with the increase price of precious metals.<br />
<br />
To top off the look, I added polka dot flats:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xIXFgeDZQCg/T2Xt-GVUe1I/AAAAAAAAALo/JLt-ckXt3bE/s1600/9_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xIXFgeDZQCg/T2Xt-GVUe1I/AAAAAAAAALo/JLt-ckXt3bE/s320/9_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really like the color scheme of these flats and I've had them since college (and since I'm not in residency, these are at least 5+ years old), but I've kept them because I've never really found any flats quite like these. I think the bow really makes these shoes cute! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And last, but not least, my PS1!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F0Ql_GXMC9g/T2XuD2VCHDI/AAAAAAAAALw/r6vEomLFdtM/s1600/9_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F0Ql_GXMC9g/T2XuD2VCHDI/AAAAAAAAALw/r6vEomLFdtM/s320/9_4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Saddle is definitely a neutral color, but I like how the warm color tone pops out against the vibrant mint green of my jeans. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
How was everyone else's St. Patty's Day?</div>

Even though I'm sick, I still go to work everyday (which seems counter-intuitive when you work in a hospital), but you have responsibilities as a doctor and your patients can't be put off until the next day. The only time where I actually took a sick day was when my flight came in at 3 am because of engine problems and only because I had already pre-warned my co-resident that I wasn't going to make it in the next day and he was prepared. <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
However, I still went out for drinks on Tuesday (which probably wasn't the best idea) because one of my med school friends was in town for vacation and was flying out the next day back to his residency program in Ohio. It was a good excuse to dress up in my new colored jeans though!</div>

The material is cheap, but the jeans ran me $15 per vs. $50+ and I'm not convinced this trend will last even if it's a cute trend so I'm not going to invest a lot into it. The fit is okay. It runs a little large as I usually wear a 25. The inseam is too long for a shorter girl like me (I'm 5'2") at 31.8", but I solved the problems by folding the jeans inward as above and outward as below. But I think for the price, they're a good buy and I really do love the burnout tee, which is why I bought another one! I think these will eventually go back in stock at Forever 21 and if they do, snap it up or check your local store!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I got the light blue as pictured above and the mint green as shown below. I wanted the turquoise, but they didn't have any in my size. Oh well, I may splurge for a turquoise pair as I think that color may have more of a lasting impact. I do have to admit, I really do like the mint green color!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Isn't the color so spring-like and pretty? I think so! Let me know what you think of colored jeans for Spring 2012!</div>

We decided to meet for dinner and because we were going to Nippon, where parking is a pain, C and I met up at J's apartment to carpool to the place. H was with her brother and his gf, and they were going to meet us up later.<br />
<br />
J is getting married soon and we've been helping her pick out things for her wedding and so I was helping out with her save the date. We decided a magnet would be a little different and unique, and J found a pretty good deal off a website, making it < $2 per. We were playing around with the features/templates/design when C arrived, then it was off to dinner!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The ramen was decent (for where I live), but nowhere near as yummy as it is in NYC or Japan (but that's a given). I was pretty satisfied, especially since it got pretty chilly for it having been a mild weather. The only bad thing about Nippon was the wait. There was no standing room, so we were kind of blocking the waiting staff and it was just awkward, but the food salvaged the night. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Above was the outfit I wore. I actually brought two blazers since I live outside the city and can't drive in and back easily just to change up my outfit if it gets colder. It actually got warmer as the day progressed. I've really been in a blazer and jeans type of mood and recently bought two blazers, both of which I wore out this weekend. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Silence & Noise one is comfortable and cut fairly well for a petite girl like me. The arm length is good, but my arms are fairly long for my height. I got it from Urban Outfitters when it was 29% off for leap year. Since I've never seen this particular blazer go on sale, I snatched it up. I read from previous reviews that the quality has decreased, but for $60, I didn't think it was terrible quality. It's okay quality for the price I got it at. For $80 though, it may not be worth it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Below is the other blazer I wore earlier on in the day when it was 10 degrees colder. This blazer is by Free People and I bought it for charity for $20, which is an amazing price! The quality is great for the price, but retail I believe it runs over $120. I'm not sure I would pay that much, but it is good quality, warm enough for 50ish weather, and has a unique cut. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Scarf :: <i>LF</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Blazer :: <i>Free People </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The rest detailed above!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The shirt I wore from J Crew is really lovely. It's a mauve-y purple and has these interesting pleats. I took a closeup for the shirt and blazer, since the scarf is covering up the best part. This shirt is one of my best purchases from J Crew (other than my Timex Traveler watch) as I adore the detail and the color. It's lightweight, soft, and comfortable to wear. It looks good alone or underneath something else. I wish there'd been other colors when I bought it, alas... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A5MCE3Hy-L0/T1zxxG6EQbI/AAAAAAAAAKw/KelbVQfmFDU/s1600/7_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A5MCE3Hy-L0/T1zxxG6EQbI/AAAAAAAAAKw/KelbVQfmFDU/s320/7_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last thing I must add is to say I love my Frye Carson boots! I must commend my bestest, M (who lives near the wonderful world of NYC), who talked up her Frye boots and made me lust for my own. I have to say the leather quality is amazing and these are really comfortable boots. I got mine on sale, so it was totally worth it.</div>

Clothes for work definitely aren't as fun for me as my outfits on the weekend, but more important than style is COMFORT (especially when I can be at work for up to 14 hours a day)! I try to wear stuff that I can sit in, walk in, lie down in and look professional in. So without further ado, here's my outfit of the day:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BtkPjX1w6_I/T1f-njmYF6I/AAAAAAAAAKg/e4j-lr9ugmw/s1600/6_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BtkPjX1w6_I/T1f-njmYF6I/AAAAAAAAAKg/e4j-lr9ugmw/s320/6_1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cardigan :: <i>Gap</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Top :: <i>Forever 21 (<a href="http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=top_knit&ProductID=2015035906&VariantID=">here</a>)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bottom :: <i>Custom-made (by my mom!!!)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Shoes :: <i>Nine West </i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bag <i>:: Longchamp (<a href="http://www.magnums.net/prod/1899089/Longchamp-Le-Pliage">here</a>)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Watch :: <i>J Crew (<a href="http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/jewelry/bracelets/PRDOVR~37301/99102245187/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~0~15~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~watch/37301.jsp">here</a>)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ring :: <i>David Yurman (<a href="http://www.davidyurman.com/shoponline/product.aspx?itemid=Y074Q&folderid=/women/rings">here</a>)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Necklace :: <i>Etsy </i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i></i></div>
<a name='more'></a><i><br /></i><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
The accessories listed above are my work essentials, which I'll vary up occasionally and you'll certainly see the rest at some point! The ring has personality, but at the same time none of the gemstones protrude or sparkle so it works as a pretty low key sort of statement piece. The J Crew watch is has a vintage-y feel and has a small diameter face, which is really good for me since I have kid-like wrists. And the necklace is just so cute (it rests just below my collarbone). </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zpG9phj2Qus/T1f-sjhru2I/AAAAAAAAAKo/cI35k_Yt0ao/s1600/6_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zpG9phj2Qus/T1f-sjhru2I/AAAAAAAAAKo/cI35k_Yt0ao/s320/6_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hope you enjoyed it and thank goodness it's almost Friday!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>girlymdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13267652310477416301noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3091495671033258890.post-10715977593009730622012-03-07T18:25:00.001-06:002012-03-07T18:25:33.197-06:00The ridiculous Kchan!Today was a pretty long day at the hospital compared to the other days, mainly because one of my consults was so zonked out from his cerebral arteriography that he couldn't answer any of my questions about his present medical history. Alas, we waited around for about two hours before calling it quits for the day and deciding we would try again tomorrow morning. We ended up ordering a series of relevant tests from the medical history that we could get from his caretaker, who unfortunately didn't know much and was generally a poor historian. The trials of medicine!<br />
<br />
When I open the door, I come home to this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G8NkcSfqzkM/T1Z9vOF65PI/AAAAAAAAAKM/iHfKCi_gh6g/s1600/5_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G8NkcSfqzkM/T1Z9vOF65PI/AAAAAAAAAKM/iHfKCi_gh6g/s320/5_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yes, that is my beloved baby on top of a door. It's rather impressive for a cat of her size to be on a door when it's like maybe an inch and a half wide. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
From behind, look at her cute rear!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h2De378kfJ0/T1Z9qCyVijI/AAAAAAAAAKE/A0PKKH82KYM/s1600/5_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h2De378kfJ0/T1Z9qCyVijI/AAAAAAAAAKE/A0PKKH82KYM/s320/5_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Kchan understands her predicament when she realizes that she doesn't feel stable on such a small surface area and decides to make the leap to the kitchen cabinet!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7a_vSrSRns8/T1Z9HEC0I4I/AAAAAAAAAJ8/tJcr932Jdpg/s1600/5_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7a_vSrSRns8/T1Z9HEC0I4I/AAAAAAAAAJ8/tJcr932Jdpg/s320/5_4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The question now is what is she looking at?</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UJi_YK_sH6A/T1Z9zRoyPJI/AAAAAAAAAKU/TEpFmGdzckI/s1600/5_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UJi_YK_sH6A/T1Z9zRoyPJI/AAAAAAAAAKU/TEpFmGdzckI/s320/5_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oooh, tasty plant down there (too bad she ate the hell out of that poor plant several days ago when she knocked the vase over >_<!).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Kchan meowed sweetly for help getting down, then quickly realized I was too busy taking photos of her antics and she decided to take matters into her own paws. She jumped down as easy as she pleased and sauntered off to get herself a little snack from her food bowl. Sigh. Kchan, you are ridiculous!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>girlymdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13267652310477416301noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3091495671033258890.post-37029989591718689122012-03-06T20:44:00.001-06:002012-04-24T20:06:58.599-05:00Simple tee & jeans on a dateAs I have gotten older, I have found that I feel more sure of what my style is, which is simple and clean. I like shopping at Urban Outfitters, J Crew, Loft, Banana Republic, and Forever 21 (and H&M, which will shortly be coming to a mall near me, thank goodness!). Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, and H&M are where I find my fun "weekend" clothes; whereas J Crew, Banana Republic, and Loft is where I get my work "weekday" essentials. I will certainly shop at other stores, but those are my mainstays.<br />
<br />
This weekend I went to meet with a guy I'm seeing at Pinkberry for some yummy yogurt. I chose to be casual because of the location and I ended up wearing this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YkCS5g6iQTw/T1Z6Mqt6skI/AAAAAAAAAJs/vkgBZlXleks/s1600/4_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YkCS5g6iQTw/T1Z6Mqt6skI/AAAAAAAAAJs/vkgBZlXleks/s320/4_1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Top ::<i> Forever 21 (<a href="http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=top_knit&ProductID=2015035126&VariantID=">here</a>)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bottom :: <i>Gap </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Shoes :: <i>Coach </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bag :: <i>Proenza Schouler (<a href="http://www.proenzaschouler.com/shop/shoulder-bags/medium/ps1-medium-leather-10.html?color=Saddle">here</a>)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I tend to spend more on my shoes and much more on my bags than I do on my clothes. I feel like if I stay in good shape and buy clothes that fit me well (or get them tailored), I don't necessarily need to buy really expensive items because they will look good regardless. Since I'm on a resident's salary, something has to give and for now it's the clothes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Below are a close up of the flats. I really liked them at the time and four years later, I still like them so they were a good buy. I like that the gold is a nice pop of color, but can be neutral depending on what you're wearing. Against this simple outfit, it provided a dash of much needed color. I did have to modify the flats though by cutting off the elastic band, but after I did that they were much more comfortable to wear. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fWV2-YN6vzs/T1Z6RoKvyaI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/joKL4bhO6Qs/s1600/4_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fWV2-YN6vzs/T1Z6RoKvyaI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/joKL4bhO6Qs/s320/4_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I definitely will splurge at times and the PS1 was an expensive purchase, but I think it's going to be a great workbag for me and I will get a lot of wear out of it. I debated for a good 6 months if I was going to get it and eventually I caved... and I'm so glad I did!<br />
<br />

I'm not any different, although sometimes Mondays really aren't any different than Saturdays or Sundays, depending on my work schedule. There are times when Mondays are day 8 of 12 in a row. This Monday capped the end of my vacation and I definitely felt it when I woke up. I lazed around in bed for a good 5 minutes before finally getting up and getting ready. I've pretty much perfected the art of getting ready in 15 minutes tops before heading out to my car because I pre-pack my bag so I don't have to get up any earlier than I have to for the hospital.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mdVhIyjniec/T1VNdhZh5fI/AAAAAAAAAJM/HFtUvdHul14/s1600/3_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mdVhIyjniec/T1VNdhZh5fI/AAAAAAAAAJM/HFtUvdHul14/s320/3_3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Here she is... all ready to go! My trusty <a href="http://www.magnums.net/prod/1899089/Longchamp-Le-Pliage">Longchamp Le Pliage in Large</a> (Bilberry) decorated with a Chococat! (I adore cute and cute + cat = mine).<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
So today I started a new rotation, moving from one hospital to another, and pretty much remember why I didn't choose Internal Medicine for my residency. It's not that I don't appreciate the bread and butter of medicine, but it's not something I would have wanted to do for the rest of my life. Right now I'm on medicine consults, which isn't as bad as wards. I get weekends off! (You don't know what a boon that is!) And I get normal working hours! (No 16 hour shifts... which is what we're capped off at as interns).<br />
<br />
Well then I drove home since we didn't get any consults this afternoon and my upper level told me to go home before traffic got bad. It's awesome when you get understanding upper levels, they make your life so much easier and sweeter for sure.<br />
<br />
And I come home to my baby, and her name is Kchan!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vxn-TnHJbBg/T1VNi5Hly8I/AAAAAAAAAJU/43TwfSRoT3E/s1600/3_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vxn-TnHJbBg/T1VNi5Hly8I/AAAAAAAAAJU/43TwfSRoT3E/s320/3_4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used to call her Kitty-chan, but she outgrew her name when she started to be torso-wise as long as mine. She's a pretty big cat, about 13-14 lbs (maybe even 15 lbs but I stopped weighing her ages ago) and stopped growing about a year ago when she turned 3 years old. I'm almost positive she's part Maine Coon because normal domestic shorthair cats do not get this big! I like that her papers say she's a domestic shorthair when she clearly is not... Oh well, I love her anyway!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And man does she like to get into some mischief, here is a close up:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Back it up and you see the whole picture:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PexiarhnNoE/T1VSReWnBGI/AAAAAAAAAJk/tcqKGQHinv4/s1600/3_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PexiarhnNoE/T1VSReWnBGI/AAAAAAAAAJk/tcqKGQHinv4/s320/3_2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hope everyone has a great Monday! Kchan is certainly enjoying herself, being the Queen of her Domain, looking over all her minions!</div>

We started the day off by meeting at her house and then carpooling to brunch at <b>Canopy</b>. It was a very pretty, sunny day and we sat outside to enjoy the beautiful very spring-like weather. The food was good, we ordered poached egg, eggs sandwich, chicken salad, and topped off with a pitcher of blood orange mimosas to share.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-omTF2vmHApg/T1U-3ODXxdI/AAAAAAAAAI0/nEa8dtX_0-Y/s1600/2_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-omTF2vmHApg/T1U-3ODXxdI/AAAAAAAAAI0/nEa8dtX_0-Y/s320/2_4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Here is what the egg sandwich looked like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D-khYbrHIZU/T1U-7LK1Q5I/AAAAAAAAAI8/Ty01p_-hqUE/s1600/2_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D-khYbrHIZU/T1U-7LK1Q5I/AAAAAAAAAI8/Ty01p_-hqUE/s320/2_5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
We then went off to <b>Coco's Crepes</b>, but sadly I forgot to take any pics of the crepes and didn't think about it until we cut them up into tiny bits and well it didn't look attractive anymore.<br />
<br />
My girlfriends and I are like sisters, we order family-style and we're always there for each other. I'm really blessed to have them in my life and they stuck with me through some really hard times. We met each other during first year of college and managed to maintain our friendship through medical school where we all journeyed off to different places.<br />
<br />
From now on, I'll mention them by their initials, H, C, J, and X.<br />
<br />
It didn't end with food, we then gossiped for a bit at H's house, caught up on each other's lives because we are rather busy souls as H, J, and X are in residency like me and C is finishing up her phd. We then ended up going shopping and stopping at <b>Forever 21</b>, where we all picked up a few cute things for the upcoming summer/spring and bought exactly the same belt (because when you are as close as we are, your tastes tend to run more similar than not).<br />
<br />
Here's what I picked up:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KkXlMqJCxf4/T1U-2h_eE5I/AAAAAAAAAIs/tjtdi0AyAH8/s1600/2_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KkXlMqJCxf4/T1U-2h_eE5I/AAAAAAAAAIs/tjtdi0AyAH8/s320/2_3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Forever 21:: <a href="http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=top_knit&ProductID=2015035126&VariantID=">burnout pocket top</a> & <a href="http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=acc_belts&ProductID=2000014906&VariantID=">open knitted belt</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
C and X had already left to go to their respective evening/dinner plans and that left H, J, and me to grab dinner at <b>Miyako's</b> for reverse happy hour. We were stuffed afterwards and I then made my way home. I spent nearly 12 hours with some of the best people I know who I love and care about more than anything. What makes a better day than that?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh, last but not least, my outfit of the day:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--UDBC9f0iYk/T1U-nzI1GeI/AAAAAAAAAIc/4CtSGv6UEpc/s1600/2_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--UDBC9f0iYk/T1U-nzI1GeI/AAAAAAAAAIc/4CtSGv6UEpc/s320/2_1.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
scarf :: <i>LF </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
cardigan :: <i>Urban Outfitters</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
top :: <i>Banana Republic </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
bottom :: <i>Hudson </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love the scarf, the pattern's so pretty that I actually have two of these scarves... the one pictured above and one in a turquoise-y blue. It's soft, comfortable and versatile, plus it adds some pizazz to my outfit. I know my style and it's too bad I live so far down South. I love to layer, but it's pretty impossible to layer here when it starts getting warm. Sigh. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r6360-Yi8ow/T1U-xSgD9_I/AAAAAAAAAIk/8gFoMFZMloc/s1600/2_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r6360-Yi8ow/T1U-xSgD9_I/AAAAAAAAAIk/8gFoMFZMloc/s320/2_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If only I didn't live in humid central, I could wear a scarf that beautiful and unique everyday!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>girlymdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13267652310477416301noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3091495671033258890.post-74897606899772778302012-03-02T15:40:00.001-06:002012-03-21T19:32:46.864-05:00Let's start with...A simple introduction! My name is Holly and I'm a 1st year resident. My life has been pretty roller-coaster-ish for the last 8 months as I finished the first chunk of my intern year. Now I'm moving on and completing a few mandatory requirements before starting my 2nd year, where I'll get to dabble in a bunch of subspecialties to find my niche. I hope you'll join me on this journey, where I'll probably talk a little about work, a lot about fashion and food with a lot of pictures along the way!<br />
<br />
I have to share my favorite nail polish at the moment: <a href="http://zoya.com/content/38/item/Zoya/Zoya-Nail-Polish-Willow.html">Willow by Zoya</a><i>. </i><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cTvCs7YT1Ms/T1E4-Wc887I/AAAAAAAAAGw/7qILzt_eu5k/s1600/1_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cTvCs7YT1Ms/T1E4-Wc887I/AAAAAAAAAGw/7qILzt_eu5k/s320/1_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
I find it to be just about the perfect shade of coral-y/orange-y pink for the spring/summer months. I've been wearing it non-stop on my toes and will wear it on my fingernails when I'm not working. It's a bit too bright and fun for the hospital, but totally suitable for weekend fun!<br />
<br />
Here is what it looks like in the bottle:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HxE5RniReKk/T1E46fiMTmI/AAAAAAAAAGo/Ox0YYn95eog/s1600/1_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HxE5RniReKk/T1E46fiMTmI/AAAAAAAAAGo/Ox0YYn95eog/s320/1_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I got this polish in one of their free nail polish giveaway (all you have to do is pay for shipping). I got Willow and <a href="http://www.zoya.com/content/38/item/Zoya/Zoya-Nail-Polish-Grace.html">Grace</a>, but Grace ended up being a bit more neutral toned than pink for my skin tone. I still really like the color, since it's perfect for wearing to work. I should have taken a pic of it when I still had it on my fingernails, but I was too excited for the weekend and my nails and toes are both Willow-ed out. <br />
<br />
So I got two nail polishes worth $16 for about $5.95 (shipping). Not a bad value, eh?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6lmSm4cVQPo/T1E9J5Wu4vI/AAAAAAAAAG8/vhP9Yy0BJgw/s1600/1_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6lmSm4cVQPo/T1E9J5Wu4vI/AAAAAAAAAG8/vhP9Yy0BJgw/s320/1_4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What I especially love about Zoya is that their formula is on the runny side. I know, I know, then isn't it too sheer and lacks the color? Well, their formula also has a lot of longevity and all you really need to get the color payoff is two coats. Actually sometimes one really thick coat will do the job just as well (depends on how thickly you apply). I have had some of my Zoya polishes from 2+ years and they haven't dried out at all. I highly recommend them, especially when they're doing their polish giveaways!</div>girlymdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13267652310477416301noreply@blogger.com3
